Choose a Question
- Do I need to remove the cartilage from the ears of the pelt?
- What are the differences in your different tanning services?
- Are there a minimum number of pelts I must send?
- What type of pelts do you tan?
- What type of tanning do I get?
- What is your standard timeline?
- How will my tanned furs turn out?
- What info do I include in the box (or boxes)?
No. However, as garment tanners we will not either. As a result
the ears will be tanned hard. They still moldable with some dehydration.
Removing the cartilage from the ears of your pelt will dry the ear
faster and reduce the chance of hair slippage.
The difference between garment tanning and hoop tanning for beaver
is small. It is the same process except for cutting out the leg holes
on garment tanning. This allows us to get a slightly closer shave
across the tail and even the thick tail leather out to the rest of
the skin. Curious of the differences between case tanning and open
tanning? Case tanning is not split up the belly and open tanning is.
No, send 1 to 100. If you're sending a large quantity of fur please
email or call us ahead of time.
We specialize in tanning mink, beaver, otter, lynx, raccoon, muskrat,
coyote, fox, fisher, martin, and bobcat. USA FOXX can tan most everything
from rattlesnake to buffalo.
Garment quality. Your pelts will be soft and supple, ready to
be made into a fur garment, fur hat or any other fur product. You
have your choice on most furs to tan open or cased (sometimes referred
to as in the round, tubed or whole).
You will receive your pelts back from tanning if you ship to us
in the following months.
January to June, 8 - 12 Weeks
July to December, 6 - 8 Weeks

Your fur will probably look fully primed and well prepared when
we receive it. Even when it looks this way, we will not be able to
tell how it was handled prior to our receiving the fur. That is why
tanning from any tanner, including us, is always done at "owner risk." There
are many conditions and potential problems that we have no control
over prior to the tanning process.
The easiest way to make a packing slip is to fill out our tanning
order form and include that in the box. If you'd rather type
or legibly write your info, include this:
* Your name
* Your address
* Your phone number
* Trapping or hunting license number
* CITIES tag numbers for bobcat, lynx & otter
* What kind and number of pelts you are sending us
* What you would like done to them (cased, blued, up-toned, plucked & sheared, etc.)
* What you would like your pelts made into (coats, hats, mitts, etc.) or tan only and return to you
